Bowling ball weights, the weight of your ball does matter. The max weight is 16lbs and the min is 6lbs. With a 16 pound ball you wont get as much hook as you would get with a 14lbs ball. A 16lbs ball will drive harder into the pins getting better carry, but if you have a high rev rate like me then you wouldn’t really want to throw a heavy ball; instead i throw a 15lbs ball. The lightest reactive ball is only 10 pounds and that ball will hook but it wont even get you half of the carry that a heavy ball will have.

This is what I think are the most important things in bowling

1. Mental Game
You have to have a good mental game, what i mean is you can’t get mad or frustrated because you’re not bowling good. ALWAYS take your bowling one frame at a time. By having a good mental game you have a slight advantage over everyone else, not only will this help your game it will help you in seeing what’s happening when something goes wrong.

2. Physical shape.
You health is another key to bowling, keep your self in shape. Bowling is not a easy sport, it demands so much and when your body is a little bit tried or lazy it could lower your scores up to 50 PINS.

3. Mechanics.
You can’t bowl good without good form. Timing, push off, follow through, and a good knee bend are the keys to bowling good. If your ball is late in your swing you wont get enough lift or get too much lift on the ball. If you don’t push off at all most of the time you will leave a 10 pin because without the push off you don’t follow through. With out a knee bend you will become less consistent, because you get farther away from the lane.

4. Spares and Strikes
Spares are the most important thing in this game, without spares your strikes will be worth a lot less. Spares are the heart of the game, sure you could throw a lot of strikes but then you still would end up with like 220′s and 200′s without spares.

Do High performance bowling balls make a difference in bowling? there are many opinions on this subject. I’ll give you mine.

High performance bowling balls have different coverstocks than mid performance bowling balls. Some of these coverstocksare; Reactive Pearl, C4 solid Reactive,  particle, particle pearl. With all these different coverstocks, the high performance balls have more options than the mid performance bowling balls. The coverstock doesn’t make up a bowling ball, it’s the combination of the coverstock and core.

High performance bowling balls do make a difference in a few ways. The first way would be that they give you more options then mid-performance bowling balls. Another way is that in tournaments where the oil patters can be hard a high performance bowling ball will be better then a mid-performance bowling ball.

Mid-performance bowling balls only give you limited options in categories such as length, overall hook, and angle to the pocket, while the high performance bowling balls will give you way more options and different looks at the pocket.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the coverstock of the bowling ball can only last so long. A way to keep your ball hitting hard and reacting the same, time and time again, is to clean your ball or balls after bowling. Another thing is that you can go to a pro shop and ask them to refinish your ball. When your ball gets refinished, they use a special oil remover to get rid of the oil that has soaked into your coverstock.
